The Mojave Desert is home to many rare plants and animals that may not be found in other parts of the world. The area is also rich with history of the mining activity that contributed to the settlement of the area. You may encounter Desert Tortoise, Wild Burro, abandoned mining shafts and historic building along the course. We are able to obtain a permit to host this event because of many special protection measures that we take to avoid harming any adjacent habitat. First and foremost research has shown that in general mountain bike racers are more aware and concerned for their outdoor environment. Please take a moment to learn about the local area and the sensitive habitat you will be traveling through. Remember to stay on the designated route at all times and Leave NO Trace.
