Below is also a description the course  with elevation and hydration and feed zones marked. This course is considerably harder and different from 2017, so please read

This uniquely designed race begins at the Spicer Ranch,  and finishes in the heart of Beatty, Nevada,  the gateway to Death Valley National Park and the Oasis Valley. The Oasis Valley hub for mountain biking.

The race begins with a 6 mile  start down Hwy 95 through the town of Beatty. Racers will first take on the Flourspar/Silica Mine loop. This loop will immediately separate the field with a 1400 ft climb in the first 6 miles ( who said deserts are flat). A short saddle in the mountain will provide relief and a chance to grab hydration and a snack at the first feed zone (mile 15) before taking on the steepest climb of the day to an elevation of 4600 ft. There is no shame in walking here. Once you crest – grab your brakes; you are in for a heck of a narly downhill. Coming down the old Silica Mine road you will encounter approximately 2 miles of chunky rocks and switchbacks while descending 630 ft into Beatty Wash.

At mile 20 the Race course meets up with the Canteen Trail and hopefully friends will be waiting and cheering you on. If you have had enough this is also an optional bail out back to the Ranch. The course from this point becomes a relatively fast decent on a two-track back to Hwy 95, then left on the pavement back to Beatty and Check Point 1 and another feed zone.

The second loop is a big one with even more climbing. You will head out toward Indian Springs and through the historic Bull Frog Hills Mining District. Once you hit Strozzi Ranch Road there will be a bit of a reprieve, before climbing up and over the Windy gap. The route finishes down the old Tonopah/Tidewater narrow Gage rail bed to finish in the heart of Beatty to a cheering crowd.

Shuttles will be available to get you to the ranch in the morning or back in the afternoon.
